1. Educational and citation-tool purpose

ChicagoReferenceGenerator.com provides:

  • citation-generation tools;
  • source metadata lookup;
  • bibliography/reference-list utilities;
  • educational Chicago-style guidance.

The site does not provide legal, academic-integrity, publishing, or professional advice tailored to your individual circumstances.

2. No guarantee of citation accuracy

Citation generation depends on:

  • the metadata supplied by you;
  • metadata retrieved from third parties;
  • correct source-type identification;
  • current formatting logic;
  • your instructor/publisher requirements.

Automatically generated citations may contain errors.

You are responsible for reviewing:

  • author names;
  • titles;
  • dates;
  • editions;
  • publisher/journal information;
  • page locators;
  • DOI/URL;
  • final punctuation and formatting.

Your instructor, institution, journal, publisher, or required style guide takes priority over this site.

7. Local browser storage

The site does not guarantee recovery of locally stored source data after:
